Thirteen Nigerians have been arrested by the police in Philippines for alleged involvement in an online scamming syndicate that victimises Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and other nationalities.
The suspects were arrested during raids conducted overnight in Imus City in Cavite province on Sunday, June 3, Gossip Mill reports.
notes that Imus City police chief Supt Audi Madrideo, said members of the group would create fake Facebook accounts, with stolen photos and profiles, and tell unsuspecting victims that they were members of the United States military.

One of the alleged group leaders, Emmanuel Nnandi, was apprehended in an entrapment operation around 7:30 p.m on Sunday, June 3 in a money transfer outlet in Barangay (village) Tanzang Luma 2.
After his arrest, Nnandi led the police to other members of the group, who were arrested in their apartments.
According to the police, the suspects had entered the country using student visas.
