Rep. Olufemi Fakeye(Osun-Osun), which was approved by members through voice vote, who moved the motion by expressed concern over media reports last week on her death at Kano NYSC orientation camp.
Mr. Fakeye explained that late Oladepo was 26 year old girl, who was a first class graduate in Aviation Transport Management of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomosho.
He further said that few days before her death, Oladepo report s to the camp authorities at the orientation camp on Friday, Nov. 25, that she was sick, but the authorities thought she was pretend to be sick.
But when her conditions get worse, she was later admitted at the camp clinic under the management of NYSC Doctors and Nurses.
Mr. Fakeye said the camp clinic lack adequate equipment, but she was given some “placebo” and later injection with some substance which make her condition worsened.
When her condition is unbearable, the clinic transferred her to another Hospital for treatment, where she was reportedly died.
Rep. Femi Gbajebiamila, the head of the House stated that: “this is one, but too many deaths that should not be overlooked”
Mr. Gbajebiamila called all people who involved in carelessness should show before the Committees on Healthcare Services, Youths Development and Justice.
He said the federal government should include provision of good health care service in all camp in the 36 states in their 2017 budget. And health insurance should be provided for all country youth corps members.
