Mrs Park, the Country Director unveiled that the modern integrated rice milling facility project was started in 2008, while it has the capacity of giving out 1.5 tonnes of rice per hour (1.5 t/h) with parboiling, sorting, drying and packaging facilities. But it can be increased to 3.0 per hour.
According to HE Noh Kyu-duk speech, the Korean Ambassador to Nigeria saying that the project is part of the helps South Korea is ready to offer Nigeria to boost their Agricultural development.
The Statistics shows that Nigerian is presently producing 5 million tonnes of rice yearly while importing about 3 million tones to meet demands.
Yearly, Nigerian Spent N356 billion on rice importation, based on estimation which make the country rank among top 12 rice consumer countries in the world.
According to reports, the rice milling facility will not only help the Nigerian local rice and miller farmers in Bida, but also creates thousands of jobs for unemployed youths in the country.
It will also make the country to become self-sufficient in producing rice and put an end to rice importation from other countries.
The projects would be managing by the major stakeholders which include Federal Ministry of Agriculture and NAMDA (Niger State Agricultural MechaniSation Agency).
