Court orders remand of 3 robbers over alleged armed robbery

Moshood Sheriff , 38; Olaleye Sarafadeen, 36, and Ajetunmobi Sefiu , 26 has been arrested and remanded in court by the Osogbo Chief Magistrates' Court on Monday in Ilesa Prison over alleged armed robbery.

The accused are arrested and facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and armed robbery.

Insp. Joshua Oladoye,thecProsecutor told court that the accused committed the offence at about 11.30 p.m. on Osogbo-Ede road on Dec. 6,2016.

Oladoye said that the accused persons had been terrorising motorists plying the route before they were eventually arrested by the police.

He added that the accused were arrested with various weapons like:cutlasses, knives, axe, charms and four clubs with nails.

He said the offence contravened Section 1(1) and Section 2(1)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provision) Act Cap R11 Vol. 14 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria.

The plea of the accused persons was not taken.

The case was adjourned till Jan. 27, 2017 for mention.
