The Nigerian International, Mikel Obi has not kicked the ball at all under new manager, Antonio Conte, and will see end of contract to become a free agent this summer.
However, Chelsea may be keen to allow the Super Eagles captain leave this month because they have high profile players like Ngolo Kante, Nemanja Matic and Cesc Fabregas who can play Mikel's role for the team and Valencia are keen on his signature.
Garcia Pitarch said, as reported in Superdeporte: “In the case of Obi Mikel, with Chelsea's permission, I met with him in London on Christmas day.
“I informed him of the option [of joining Valencia]. He said he would think about it.”
Valencia are as now currently 17th in La Liga and level on 12 points with Sporting Gijon, who are in the relegation zone.
The Los Che have only won three matches in their opening 15 league fixtures.
