Joomla is a CMS (content management system) coded in PHP. It's greatly known for making dynamic websites
A CMS is a software to make your websites and to make your content management easy
Let's take a look at the difference between dynamic and static websites
A dynamic website is a site which acts on your response and gives you customized output , like a simple register form in which a user registers himself on a website and then he gets the rights to log into user area of that website.
While a static website is based on what ever the request you get some predefined outputs , mostly its all done in HTML.
Before you can even think about building any Joomla website you'll need
*A domain name that reflects your website. This should be a .com .net or .org domain
*Web Hosting Service
Aside from a domain name, you'll also need a hosting service.
Before choosing a hosting service keep an eye on these 2 things:
1. Uptime. The more the better, usually measured in percentages, such as 99.90% and 99.99%.
2. Page load speed. How fast is the hosting provider? It should load your site within 500ms.
you will get a ZIP file from this link and you would need to extract it on your disk after downloading it.
Once downloaded you can try it on any PHP based server , like WAMP , XAMP standalone Apache with Mysql etc
copy paste joomla folder in “www” folder for WAMP server which is its working directory or any other servers working directory, then go to the link on the browser example: http://localhost:80 /joomla/ and you will get the installation window
After installation you will need to delete a folder in joomla (i.e install folder) then its done you can access the administrator section from (example)http://localhost:80/joomla/administratorsection
the dashboard will look like below:
Customization And Extensions
Joomla support lots of add on features like plugins and modules which increases the original scope of joomla
Extensions.joomla.org is the directory where all Joomla! extensions are listed.
Download the zip package of any extensions from the extensions.joomla.org directory. Don't unzip it just yet.
Instead, go toExtensions – Manage and upload this package to your admin panel.
you can do also add some Search Engine Optimization (SEO) elements to the page, they have all these meta descriptions and keywords options built it
Now your new website ready to rule the net!!!
