Payet reveals why he forced his way out of West Ham

Payet reveals why he forced his way out of West Ham
Olympic Marseille's Dimitri Payet has said that he forced his way out of West Ham, because he “was not feeling good in the club anymore”.

On Monday, The 29-year-old completed a £25million transfer back to Marseille and insists he does not need to justify his behaviour in his final days with the Hammers.

“I was not feeling good in the club anymore. I don't need to justify my behaviour at all. Slaven Bilic and I had conversations face to face,” he told Sportsmail.

“I will speak about this, but not now. It's not the right moment. I prefer to savour this moment at a great club and return to that at a later date.”

Payet will earn £25,000 less per week at the Stade Velodrome and says it was not about the money.

“If I was in this for the money, I would have been in a different country a very long time ago. It is not my motivation. This has been a sacrifice financially but money doesn't drive me.”

He also paid tribute to West Ham supporters.

“I had an exceptional year at West Ham. It didn't end in the way I would have wanted it to. I have very special memories of the West Ham fans,” Payet added.
