Governor Emmanuel said the teachers appointments were cancelled due to abnormality in the staffing procedure, saying their name was not listed in the state pay-roll.
Recently, Mrs. Ekereo¬bong Akpan, the Head of Service (HoS) said on Wednesday that the teachers would be employ, saying their appointment would be approved.
Mrs. Akpan told the media in the state capital, Uyo that the appointment of the teachers would take place on February 11, 2017.
According to her, each teacher will undergo another round test, in which they have to defend their appropriateness.
She added that any teacher who passed the test will be admitted and given the original copies of their appointment letters.
Mrs. Ekereo¬bong disclosed the necessary details, saying that the “af¬fected persons will be expected to supply their personal details: Birth certificate, First School Leaving Certificate, educational qualifications, certificate of ori¬gin which they submitted in the aborted recruitment."
She said “Let me state here and very sincerely, that all the affected persons who succeed at this fool-proof screening exercise shall be offered appointment to teach in our public schools,”
Speaking about the committee, Akpan said: “… Let me again break the good news that the committee set up has submitted its report and all the bona fide teaching and non-teaching staff as identified by the community who used to pay-roll them will be absorbed into the service.”
The lists are the name of the affected schools, which include Com¬munity Secondary School, at Obio, Ediene Ikono Lo¬cal Government Area; Afaha High School, Ikot Udo Mbang, Ukanafun LGA followed by Ikono An¬nang Comprehensive Second¬ary School, Nkwot Ikono, Etim Ekpo LGA; Compre¬hensive Secondary School, Iwere, Ini LGA also Unity Model Col¬lege, Obontong, Nsit Ibom LGA and Comprehensive High School, Ikpe Mbak Eyop Obot Akara LGA.
Following the issue of pay-roll of staff, Mrs. Akpan apologized to the schools workers over the adversity they come across during the confirmation of the work-out.
