Yesterday, in a statement issued by Ibrahim Musa, the Shitte Group spokesman, saying the group was impressed with the Vice President Statement at Eko Stakeholder Summit, blasting Nigerian polices and judges for allegedly detaining suspects without test.
Following the statement of Mr. Osinbajo at the Eko Stakeholder Summit, the person who represented the acting president at the Summit, Abubakar Malami, an Attorney General and Minister for Justice urged Mr. Osinbajo on behalf of Mr. Musa the acting president to release their detained leaders.
Mr. Malami accused the Nigerian federal government for fails to respects the rule of law, saying that the Federal High Court had ordered the release of El-Zakzaky more than a year, but the DSS refused to give him freedom, despite the fact that he met his bail condition.
However, Mr. Malami recalled that the government condemns illegal locking up of suspects, while their leader and his family were detained illegally for more than a year.
He lamented that it was regrettable that the Nigerian Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, a professor of law and Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), served in a government that disobey rule of law, ignored court order.
EL-Zakzaky and his family were arrested by the DSS following a clashed between Shitte Muslim members and the Nigerian troops, in which more than 350 Shitte members loss their life in the battle.
The Government ordered the DSS to pay Sheikh Zakzaky and his family a sum of $78,984 as reward for illegally detained for a year.
