When confessing to the Lagos Police Command, Mr. Bello the suspect explained that his wife demanded for some money to take care of their three children.
While the suspect agreed with his wife and directed her to a place at Ebute Metta area, Lagos to receive the money.
According to report, when getting to the chosen area, the suspect leads her to Ijora where he worked on his evil plans and killed her.
After taken her life, Bello quickly cut her dead body into pieces and removed her useful parts, while he buried her left body in a shallow grave, announced to her family that she suddenly leaves for his hometown in Ibadan.
The family of the victim waited for some days for her return, but failed to return home, they suspected her husband and raised the alarm by informing the state police command about the issue.
The state police command then acted faster by visiting Mr. Bello's house and arrested him.
While he was detained at the Area 'B' Police Command, Apapa for further investigation.
According to their investigation, Bello confessed that he murdered his wife, Sherifat and leads them to the shallow grave, where he buried her, saying it is work of the devil.
The suspect said: “We have been married for 14 years.
“I killed her on Monday. If I did not bury her, people would easily link me with her death. Yet I have been caught. It was the work of the devil,”
When her corpse was discovered, one of the family of the victim said her public hair some parts were missing.
The state police confirmed the corpse, while CP Fatai Owoseni, the state Commissioner of police declared that Bello has already tried to kill his wife in some years back, saying he inserting charm in the woman's private part which leds to their separation.
CP Owoseni said, “The offence was committed last Monday inside an uncompleted building in the area.
“Recovered from the grave in the presence of a large crowd of people yesterday were the head, two hands and legs were in their decomposing state.
“The exhumed parts were later buried at Amukoko cemetery.
“The case has been transferred to the Homicide section of the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, SCIID, Yaba,” he stated.
