On Wednesday, the commander of WNC (Western Naval Command), Daniel Ikoli was found dead in his home at Apapa, Lagos.

The victim was also the commander of NNS (Nigerian Navy Ship) BEECROFT, before been elected into presidential committee on investigate of arms deal.

According to report, Mr. Daniel left the office in the afternoon on Tuesday, complaining to other offices that he wasn't feeling fine.

Although the commander was battling an unnamed sickness which makes him to loose weight, and he is also suffering from depression, following the high dollar rate which affects his children's education.

Based on his illness, Mr. Daniel becomes inactive in the office.

The junior officers under his management were surprised over Mr. Daniel death, saying that he was killed by some unknown assassins.

One of the junior officers stated that the Victim usually worried about some assassins who were sent to him by his members in the committee.

According to his neighbour , who claimed that a gunshot was fired in the deceased compound before the victim was found dead.

The neighbour declared that the late commander heard the gunshot and dodged himself, but his dead body was later found in his room.

He said:“The bullet hit him on the chest. Three bullets were seen in his room. No one can really tell what happened but the position he was seen suggests he might have been scared of something or someone.

“He was a nice and intelligent officer. He was the one who spearheaded the renovations at BEECROFT when he was Commander. It's sad news really.”

Chinwe Umar, the Lieutenant Commander said that the state police have started investigation concerning the incident.

Umar stated: “In the early hours of Wednesday, April 5, gunshots were heard in the vicinity where Rear Admiral Teikumo Daniel Ikoli resides in Apapa.

“When his room was opened, he was found dead. Police have been invited and investigation is ongoing. When the situation is clearer, an update would be given”.
