notes that following the joint session of the Assembly, Jibrin had led some lawmakers to kick against the planned impeachment of President Muhammadu Buhari.
The impeachment move was described by the lawmakers – under the auspices of Parliamentary Support Group – as a PDP affair. They also said it was not endorsed by all members of the National Assembly.
Following the comments, the House mandated its Committee on Ethics and Privileges to investigate Jibrin.
In reaction, Jibrin apologised to the lawmakers for “spoiling their party,” adding that “we know it hurts”. He said his group was only concerned about the collective interest of Nigerians.
He stated, via his Twitter handle, @AbdulAbmJ:
If found guilty by the committee undertaking the probe, Jibrin risks being suspended.
