Following a report in October 16, 2016, declared that some soldiers are missing in Gashigar area of Bornu State during an operation to dislocate the Boko Haram terrorist in the area, the Nigerian Army recently found the bodies of an officer and 15 soldiers.

According to report, the soldiers of Lafiya Dole operation had killed over 53 Boko Haram insurgents, while captured 963 members in different location around Buni Yadi and Katarko Gujba area.

This was revealed Yesterday at the weekly assessment of Operation Rescue Final in Maiduguri by Major General Lucky Irabor, the Theatre Commander of Opeartion Lafiya Dole.

The General said “The bodies were recovered along Kamadugou River line area in Maiduguri. Among those recovered was that of Lt.-Col. K. Yusuf, the former Commanding Officer (CO) of 223 Tank Battalion. They have since been buried in Maimalari Cantonment Cemetery with full military honours,”

Irabor explained that two of the arrested Boko Haram suspects were Medical Doctor, while many of them are transporter of the gang from one country to another.

He said that the Boko Haram insurgent are using the weapons which was recovered from them in Sambisa Forest to attack community, noted that “Out of the items and written records recovered from Sambisa Forest were on how to use armaments and making of bombs and Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs),”

Irabor declared that the soldiers on ground were helped by NAF (Nigerian Air Force) to capture the Boko Haram terrorists, saying that following a successful operation at Dogon Chiku, the Air Force fighter jets accomplished 68 raids in about 43 operations in Sambisa Forest.

He urged the residents in the affected area to reports any doubtful movements of people to the state military
