In a latest development,the Senate has rejected Ali's letter requesting for another date for his appearance,punch reports.
Hameed Ali, in a letter to the upper chamber said he could appear before the lawmakers on the said date as it coincided with the routine management of the NCS.
Ali's letter requesting for another date for his appearance was read to lawmakers at the plenary on on Tuesday, March 14.
The letter was signed by an assistant comptroller general.
The senate dismissed the letter and told Hameed he must appear tomorrow in uniform. The lawmakers also condemned Ali for relegating the Senate and for failing to personally sign the letter.
Further, the Senate had also threatened to recommend the Hameed Ali for the sack if he fails to obey its order on the suspension of the policy on the collection of duties on old vehicles.
The ruffles between the senate and the customs boss started when Senator Dino Melaye representing Kogi West senatorial district moved a motion during plenary on Thursday, March 9 that the Customs boss must be called to order.
He prayed that Hameed Ali should be re- summoned and made to appear live in plenary and not before senate committee on customs. He must also be in Customs uniform.
