Nothing wrong even if Buhari honoured Abiola becautilize of 2019 – Kaduna ex-departvernor, Balarabe Musa
The former governor of Kaduna state, Balarabe Musa, on Tuesday, June 12, said there is nothing wrong if President Muhammadu Buhari honoured the late Basorun MKO Abiola, the presumed winner of the June 12 1993 presidential election because of the forthcoming 2019 elections.
Recall that President Buhari last week announced June 12 as Nigeria’s Democracy Day and also conferred the highest title in the land, GCFR, to the late Abiola who died in detention on July 7, 1998.
Some Nigerians have faulted the president’s move saying it is a ruse and an attempt to lure the southwest towards voting for him during the 2019 presidential election.

However, Musa said even if Buhari has an ulterior motive for honouring Abiola, he should be commended for doing the right thing and righting the wrongs of the past, the Independent reports.
“For those saying the president honoured Abiola because he wants to secure votes in the southwest in 2019, what is wrong in that? What is wrong with doing a good thing? That claim is not true, but even if it is true, what is wrong in doing the right thing? I don’t see anything wrong in that,” he said.
Earlier, reported that the director-general of the MKO Abiola campaign organisation, Senator Jonathan Zwingina, revealed that SDP members who served in the government of Abacha all had the permission of Abiola.
