OBJ, IBB apologises for not attending MKO Abiola’s, Fawehinmi’s award ceremony
The ceremony of the investiture of the Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) and the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON) honour on late MKO Abiola and late Gani Fawehinmi respectively was attended by many dignitaries in the country including President Muhammadu Buhari and his vice, Yemi Osinbajo.
However, former heads of states,Olusegun Obasanjo and Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida were not in attendance for reasons yet undisclosed.

The two ex-presidents, Olusegun and Babangida, have tendered their apologies for failing to attend the grand and all-important event, which took place on Tuesday, June 12 in Abuja.
The national honours were given to the deceased post-humostly and received by their families.
Meanwhile, the chairman of the defunct National Electoral Commission (NEC), Humphrey Nwosu, has announced that he will not be able to attend the Tuesday, June 12 posthumous investiture of the winner of the annulled June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief Moshood Abiola as the Grand Commander of the Federal Republic (GCFR).
