Brazil international Fred suffered an ankle injury during a training session with his national team ahead of their pre-World Cup friendly game against Austria on Sunday.
The 24-year-old was said to have injured his ankle in a tackle against Real Madrid star Casemiro at Tottenham Hotspur’s training ground.
According to the country’s national team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar disclosed that the midfielder suffered ‘trauma in his ankle’ but insisted that it was too early to make any pronouncement over the injury.

He insisted that they will have to watch the Shakhtar Donetsk attacker for at least a day before running a test on the affected region.
“Tomorrow we watch to see what happens and then decide if we need to do any exams or not but at the moment it is too early to say anything about him,” the doctor added.
Fred already passed medicals at Old Trafford on Monday ahead of a proposed £50 million plus move to join the Red Devils ahead of next season.
Having suffered the minor injury, the 24-year-old couldn’t continue with his teammates as he required ice treatment.
