Whoever we hold to court is based on evidence – EFCC replies PDP
– The EFCC has responded to allegation that the ruling party, APC, is using the anti-graft agency to harass opposition
– The EFCC boss said the agnecy does not play politics and there is always evidence against those arraigned for fraud
The acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu, has denied claim by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that the anti-graft agency is being used by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to terrorism opposition parties.
Magu made this statement on Monday, June 4, after declaring open a one-day high level consultative meeting on corruption organized by the New Partnership for Africa’s Development (NEPAD Nigeria) in conjunction with African Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) in Abuja.

He said: “Nobody has said that we have arrested somebody without something to proof.
“We base our investigations on evidence and nobody has come out to dispute that. We have never taken anybody on flimsy excuses. As always, we conduct a very thorough investigation and whoever we take to court is based on evidence.
“Before we even invite, we conduct background investigation; we do preliminary investigation before you are invited. And even when you are invited, we make sure there is an offence before we take you to court.”
Magu who made the statement while reacting to the allegation that the anti-corruption war is one sided said there is no such thing and the agency works with concrete evidence.
